TANFIELD RAILWAY TRAIN RIDES & EXPERIENCES

We are pleased to announce that we will be running our Delivered by Diesel Gala this year on 21st and 22nd September 2024. The event will see our home fleet of diesel locomotives in action, as well as a visiting diesel and a mixture of passenger trains to travel on.

Starring visiting diesel locomotive 03078 from the North Tyneside Railway, alongside home fleet diesel locomotives Reyrolles No.2, Tyne Improvement Commission No.35 and Ribblesdale Cement No.6.

Step aboard the Tanfield Railway’s famous North Pole Express for a steam train journey to the North Pole! Visit Father Christmas in his fireside Grotto and receive a special gift, meet the North Pole Express ticket conductor and elves, and enjoy festive refreshments and activities. Prebooking required.

Join us for an unforgettable journey on a heritage steam train with unique Victorian carriages and lovingly restored locomotives. Enjoy a 6 mile round trip through beautiful rolling countryside and a spectacular wooded valley.

Anything that can run, will run! Join us for the return of our popular Run It Gala on 19th and 20th October 2024. All of our operational home fleet steam locomotives will be in service hauling various trains and rolling stock.

Join us for our Photographic Evening at Marley Hill engine shed from 4.30pm – 9.30pm where our steam locomotives will be busy being prepared and fired up in readiness for running the following day.

Embark on a journey back in time with the Tanfield Railway Freight Train Guard Experience. Enjoy a round trip and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of being a guard on our heritage freight train.

Our new Diesel Driver Experiences offer you the unique opportunity to take control of one of our historic diesel locomotives, either TIC No.35, Reyrolles No.2 or Ribblesdale No.6. This is a fantastic experience for any train enthusiast or anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.
